In a move as arrogant as it was prime for disaster, American super-featherweight boxer “Lightning” Rod Salka decided to don a pair of border wall-themed shorts with the slogan “America 1st” written on them during his fight with Mexico’s Francisco “El Bandido” Vargas.
Notwithstanding the fact that the Indio, California crowd was less-than-enthusiastic about his choice of apparel, the Mexican boxer opted to let his mitts do the talking.
What happened next was a combination of superior athleticism topped off with a lesson in humility.
Per Vice Sports, “After Vargas (25-1-2, 18 KOs) dealt out a flurry of punches (112 landed to Salka’s 75) for a solid six rounds, Salka (24-5, 4 KOs)—more important, his corner—ended up throwing in the towel.”
Once again, it looks like America paid for the wall.
