Ex-Trump aide Sam Nunberg just issued stunning remark after Mueller interview

- Maret 10, 2018

In the end, there was no dramatic arrest by federal marshals. Former Trump campaign advisor Sam Nunberg, after clogging up the cable news airwaves for a full day with his protestations that he would defy the subpoena from Special Counsel Robert Mueller to testify about what he knows in the Russia electoral interference probe, spent five hours in front of Muller’s grand jury yesterday.

After his thorough grilling, Nunberg told ABC News:

“No, I don’t think it’s a witch hunt. It’s warranted because there’s a lot there and that’s the sad truth,” he admitted.

It’s the president’s retinue, however, that he thinks is in the most danger from Mueller’s investigation, rather than Trump himself, most notably Nunberg’s friend and mentor, Roger Stone.

“I’m very worried about him,” Nunberg said. “He’s certainly at least the subject of this investigation, in the very least he’s a subject.”

Add your name to millions demanding Congress take action on the President’s crimes. IMPEACH TRUMP & PENCE!

While Nunberg, who realizes that he has already “got into enough trouble this week,” refused to go into detail about his grand jury testimony, he did say that the questions posed to him concerned the people listed in his subpoena, a who’s who of Trump campaign advisors: Steve Bannon, Carter Page, Hope Hicks, Corey Lewandowski, Michael Cohen, as well as Trump’s bodyguard Keith Schiller.

Nunberg said that the questions he was asked concerned the president’s business and his political positions on Russia and that the inquiry was rapid fire.

“They’re trying to get as much in as quickly as they can – boom, boom, boom, boom – it almost feels like I’m back in yeshiva with the rabbi.”

According to ABC News, a source close to Nunberg says he is scheduled to testify in front of the grand jury five more times, but Nunberg refused to confirm that as fact.

“Look I can’t talk. I can’t. I’m just not going to talk about it. Maybe, maybe yes, maybe no, I’ll give you a Donald Trump answer,” he said. “We’ll see.”

All of this is fairly anti-climactic after the wild protestations and the public meltdown  Nunberg enacted earlier in the week. Perhaps the motivations for his publicity-seeking media tour will become more evident as Mueller’s investigation proceeds.
