Texas’s Republican Lieutenant Governor just launched a sexist attack against Sandra Bullock

- Februari 10, 2018

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick (R) is angry about Sandra Bullock’s latest choice in movie roles. Petrick is livid over the Academy Award-winning actress’ decision to play former State Senator Wendy Davis, the brave Texas Democratic state legislator who held the Senate floor for 13 hours to filibuster an anti-abortion bill back in 2013 and fight for women’s constitutionally-protected reproductive rights.

“It saddens me that Sandra Bullock agreed to play Wendy Davis in a movie called ‘Let Her Speak,'” said Patrick according to the Houston Chronicle. “I used to like her,” he added.

Davis’ filibuster garnered national attention and led to an ultimately unsuccessful run for the Texas governorship in 2014 when she lost to current Governor Greg Abbott.

The Lt. Governor is doing everything in his power to prevent the film’s producers from utilizing the actual Texas Senate chambers to recreate the setting of the filibuster.

“And by the way, if I have anything to do with it, I’m not going to let them use the Senate chamber to shoot, because they’ve already disgraced it once,” Patrick said. “They’re not going to do it a second time.”

Patrick may have good reason to be upset about the news of the new film. He’s apparently read the script and has realized that he himself is the villain in the story. Just like in real life.
