President Trump’s years of fear-mongering, from the start of his campaign until the present. has led his gullible, low-information supporters to believe that Islamic terrorism is the most dangerous threat facing America. As the Center For Investigative Reporting has discovered, however, plots and attacks by the far-right outnumber Islamist incidents by almost 2 to 1.
The latest attempted terrorist incident by a right-wing extremist was luckily thwarted before it could hurt anyone. Federal investigators indicted a man this week associated with The Army of God, a Christian terrorist organization dedicated to using violence to fight against abortion rights since its founding in 1982, for making threats to bomb and burn down abortion clinics around Chicago, according to a report by ABC-affiliate WLS.
Dyer, Indiana-based Luke Wiersma appeared last Wednesday in federal court after threatening to blow up an abortion clinic to prevent the “unmitigated murders of fetuses.” Court records show he also sent anonymous tips to the FBI warning of his intention.
“Luke Wiersma is a danger to society. He plans on committing crimes against abortion clinics. He has threatened to ‘do whatever is necessary to stop the unmitigated murders of fetuses at baby killing mills.’ I don’t know what he meant but I think he is possibly planning a violent attack,” one anonymous message to the FBI read.
The 33-year-old Wiersma faces up to 6 years in prison on the charges, but because he’s a white Christian don’t expect him to be shuttled off to Guantanamo Bay as Muslim terror suspects would be, despite posting messages like these on the website of one Chicago abortion clinic.
“You will all f-ing pay for what you do. If not by my hand it will be by somebody else’s. I want you to burn, I want you all to Die” he wrote, according to court records. “I will kill to stop these atrocities. I will blow you up if I have to, burn the clinic down. I will do whatever is necessary I swear to God I will. After that you are in God’s hands and He will do His thing.”
Wiersma is currently being held without bail in a Chicago jail, but who knows how many more right-wing terrorists are ready to jump up and take his place in trying to fulfill his evil agenda in a radical Christian organization where the admonition “Thou shalt not kill” is apparently interpreted with asterisks and disclaimers.
