Steve Bannon just grovelled before Trump with a humiliating apology

- Januari 07, 2018

Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman and ex-senior White House political advisor just made a rare, very public ‘apology’ to the President for telling the truth to journalist Michael Wolff for his best-selling book “Fire and Fury.” Bannon’s admission is first-hand confirmation of Wolff’s book.

Now that Bannon has been disowned by his billionaire benefactors, attacked by Trump and faces eviction from his home at Breitbart’s Washington townhouse, he’s become publicly contrite.

First, Axios reported that President Trump is asking his political allies to “bury Steve Bannon” after nicknaming him “Sloppy Steve” on Twitter while his fascist hate rag Breitbart debates if he should be unceremoniously dumped. Now, Bannon has exclusively delivered this apology to Mike Allen, the publisher of Axios:

“My comments were aimed at Paul Manafort, a seasoned campaign professional with experience and knowledge of how the Russians operate. He should have known they are duplicitous, cunning and not our friends.”

“My comments about the meeting with Russian nationals came from my life experiences as a Naval officer stationed aboard a destroyer whose main mission was to hunt Soviet submarines to my time at the Pentagon during the Reagan years when our focus was the defeat of ‘the evil empire’…

Steve Bannon told Michael Wolff that Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting to seek dirt on Hillary Clinton with the Russians was “treasonous” touched off a media firestorm surrounding the book’s preview release.

But now, Bannon’s forcefully trying to spin that he wasn’t trying to attack Don Jr. for meeting Russian agents, and sending out incriminating emails, which Wikileaks convinced him to release, much to his detriment.

While, Steve Bannon is telling Axios, “To reiterate, those comments were not aimed at Don Jr.” the reality is that Don Jr. was the most important mover in the Trump Tower meeting with Russian agents.

Any attack on that meeting is an attack on the Trump family at the highest levels.

Pointedly, Bannon did not apologize for saying that Trump Jr. will “crack like an egg” on National TV under questioning, nor for pointing out that the Trump organization’s money laundering problems are worthy of investigation either.

It’s a rare admission from inside the Republican Party that their willingness to betray America to foreign powers should not be, and cannot be tolerated.

Bannon is only apologizing to save his own skin, and only because it’s too late.

Today’s apology has little value in defending President Trump or his terrible team, but it does have tremendous news value in debunking the White House’s vociferous lies, Fox’s spin and damning confirmation of the factual nature of the content of “Fire and Fury.”
