NBC Los Angeles has reported that Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch’s $30 million home and vineyard has been caught up in the wildfires currently tearing through Southern California.

The area surrounding Murdoch’s Moraga Estate vineyard was ordered evacuated early this morning as firefighters struggled to keep the blaze contained.
Murdoch, the 86-year-old CEO and chairman of Fox News, bought the 13-acre property in 2013 for $28.8 million. He lives in a 7,500-square-foot mansion on the property. Per Moraga’s website, it is “a wine growing estate in the Santa Monica Mountains at an elevation of 600 to 900 feet, five miles from the Pacific Ocean.”
Murdoch has overseen perhaps the greatest purposeful misinformation campaign in American history. In an overt effort to shill for the fossil fuel companies that finance Republican campaigns, Fox News has helped perpetuate the idea that climate change is a hoax. In actuality – a notion that directly contradicts Fox’s strategy – climate change is real, the human influence is clear, and if humans don’t act, the consequences will be catastrophic.
In the midst of an unprecedented season of natural disasters, from hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis and now wildfires, all proven to be exacerbated by climate change, perhaps Murdoch will take a second look at the misinformation he has been peddling to Americans for years.
