Even though the tax bill now coming to the Senate floor for a vote effectively repeals Obamacare by revoking the individual healthcare mandate, even “reasonable” Republicans like Senators John McCain (AZ), Susan Collins (ME), and Lisa Murkowski (AK), who voted against a prior ACA repeal attempt, and Jeff Flake (AZ), who decried the indecency of his party’s president, are voting for the bill.
McCain’s own former campaign manager, however, the eloquent MSNBC commentator Steve Schmidt is having none of it. A lifelong fiscal conservative, Schmidt took to Twitter to express his outrage at the bill, which he calls an immoral “beggaring of the country for special interest donations,” with its provisions that will balloon the national debt by over $1.4 trillion, an act he sees as an attack on the children and grandchildren of those in office.
Every single Gen X'er should be outraged as we watch a bunch of septuagenarian and octogenarians load another 1.5 trillion in debt on the backs of our pre teen and teen age kids. The beggaring of the country for special interest donations is immoral

Schmidt’s former candidate, McCain, cited “a lack of formal Senate order” as his reason for voting against the failed Republican Obamacare repeal in late September, saying that his party should allow for Democratic debate before bringing it to a vote. However, McCain, who is suffering from a brain tumor, is now voting to deny care to millions of cancer patients that lack his financial means, despite the fact that his party is forcing the tax bill to a vote without a CBO score, debate or analysis.
To make matters worse, Senate Republicans let special interest lobbyists get their hands on the amended bill before their own Democratic colleagues even had the opportunity to even peek at the 479-page amended version, which is covered in hastily scribbled handwritten notes, until a few hours before tonight’s vote.
I was just handed a 479-page tax bill a few hours before the vote. One page literally has hand scribbled policy changes on it that can’t be read. This is Washington, D.C. at its worst. Montanans deserve so much better. http://pic.twitter.com/q6lTpXoXS0

In their haste to give their wealthy overlords just one legislative victory during this president’s first year in office, Republicans are also exploiting today’s explosive news that General Flynn has fingered Trump as the author of his own campaign’s collusion with Russia, in order to pass the bill while they think no one is watching.
But McCain’s famed campaign manager is watching his party’s nakedly kleptocratic legislation and he is calling his entire generation to join him in denouncing what they see.
